About Book Statistics

Book Statistics is a Figures Bureau site: a reference library of computed, source-verified book and reading numbers. It exists so that anyone citing a book statistic — a journalist, a student, a blogger, an AI assistant — can cite a number that traces to a named source.

What Figures Bureau is

Figures Bureau is a data-publications studio. It builds original datasets, computes every published figure directly from them at build time, publishes the methodology verbatim, and licenses the results for free reuse with a link. No recycled blog numbers, no unsourced claims — if a figure can't be traced, it isn't published.

What this site publishes

Book Statistics is the bureau's reference layer for books and reading: evergreen lookup pages built on an original dataset of 13,258 U.S. state reading-list assignments — 1,664 distinct books joined with states, grade levels and curricula, every row carrying its own source URL. The methodology documents how each number is computed; the companion narrative studies are published on readinglist.school.
